Ontario Fall Retreat 2018

Need a weekend away this fall? Love yoga and want to learn more about it? Think horses are pretty, but never had the chance to be near one? Want to see some fall colours in northern Ontario? This is your chance.
Join Jessy and Otmar in in Magnetawan for a weekend of yoga and horse discovery Friday September 14 to Sunday September 16 at beautiful Clear Lake Farm on Newell Lake, just a few kilometers south of the quaint village of Magnetawan.
You will stay in the original 1900s homestead that has been completely removated and updated for your comfort with 5 quaint bedrooms, 3 comfortable bathrooms, a large living and dining area as well as a well equipped kitchen at your disposal. Rooms are double occupancy with shared bath or triple occupancy with private bath and larger space.
The homestead is nestled in 220 acres of pasture and woodland, with a view of Newell lake, just a two minute walk down the lane.
The sandy, private beach, clear water and floating dock, Muskoka chairs, fire pit and a variety of boats for use make this a perfect cottage experience. Trails lead through the forest, meadows and along the lake to provide an opportunity to breathe in the peace and nature of the area

Icelandic Horses

The Icelandic horse is a unique breed that can trace its roots back thousands of years to Iceland. They were bred for their reliability, good character and easy gait as a means of transportation for the tough Icelandic climate. They are a small horse (technically pony sized), with a sturdy build, elegant face and thick manes and tails. Their smaller size and good nature make them a great horse to have a first experience with. Their unique gait and character keep experienced horse people engaged and interested

Your Retreat Facilitators

Jessy is passionate about horses and yoga alike. She showed hunter horses through teenage years, worked alongside vets, and graduated from an intensive equine massage therapy program in 2001 and has worked massaging and improving movement of equine athletes ever since. Jessy's love of yoga began in her teens. She found great improvement in her own riding and working with horses from yoga. She began teaching in 2004 and has expanded her yoga growth through several styles of yoga and intensive programs. She currently teaches a variety of styles and levels of yoga at her home based studio in Everett, Ontario

Otmar is a riding instructor certified with the German Icelandic Horse federation who has worked with the breed his entire life. He was on the board of the Canadian Icelandic Horse Federation and has played a significant role in promoting the breed here in Canada after moving here from his riding business from an island in the North Sea. Otmar has found great success in working with horses alongside the breath work and mindfulness that yoga teaches.
